There is overwhelming medical and scientific evidence that smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema and other serious diseases. Smokers are far more likely than non-smokers to develop these diseases. These are and have been the messages of public health authorities worldwide. Smokers and potential smokers should rely on these messages in making all smoking-related decisions.
We support government-mandated, clear, consistent health warnings about the harm caused by tobacco on consumer tobacco packs and in advertisements. In countries where health warnings are not required, we voluntarily place them on packaging and advertising in the official language or languages of the country.
