As we scale, we’re seeking a detail-oriented and technically minded Sales Engineer to support our rapidly growing sales force with custom-engineered solar proposals that win trust and close deals.

Job Summary:
The Sales Engineer plays a critical role in the solar sales cycle by developing high-quality, technically accurate residential solar proposals tailored to individual homes and energy needs. You’ll work closely with Solar Advisors, leveraging site data, design tools, and system modeling software to generate optimized PV system layouts, financial analysis, and compelling proposal packages.
This is a high-impact position requiring a blend of engineering insight, design rigor, and communication skills to translate technical data into clear, homeowner-friendly proposals that support consultative selling.

Key Responsibilities:

Solar System Design & Engineering
- Analyze site information including satellite imagery, shade analysis, and structural data.
- Use design software (e.g., Aurora Solar, Scanifly) to develop optimal solar layouts.
- Ensure code compliance and adherence to utility interconnection and AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements.
- Size PV systems based on energy usage, roof conditions, orientation, and incentives.
Proposal Generation
- Create comprehensive residential proposals that include layout, equipment specs, production estimates, financing options, and savings forecasts.
- Collaborate with sales representatives to iterate proposals based on homeowner feedback and site changes.
- Ensure proposals are both technically sound and visually polished to support a high-conversion sales process.
Cross-Team Coordination
- Act as a technical advisor to the sales team; provide insights on feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and design trade-offs.
- Interface with operations and permitting teams to ensure a smooth handoff from proposal to project execution.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, renewable energy, construction management, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years experience in solar design, engineering, or technical proposal generation.
- Proficiency in solar design platforms like Aurora Solar, Helioscope, or similar.
- Solid understanding of PV system components, energy modeling, and residential construction practices.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve problems effectively, especially in high-pressure or fast-paced environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of knowledge and expertise.
- Collaborative mindset.

Preferred:
- NABCEP PV Associate or equivalent technical certification.
- Knowledge of construction standards including NEC, IEEE, and other building codes
- Familiarity with permitting processes and utility interconnection rules in Texas
- Experience supporting direct-to-consumer solar sales teams.
