GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

We are looking for a skilled and well-rounded Recovery Engineer to manage the technical testing process for our customers, including the setup and teardown of individual Disaster Recovery tests, Customer Proof-of-Concepts and actual DR declarations or events. The candidate must be able to work within and across multiple teams including Operations, Cybersecurity, PMO, Network, Cloud, Storage. The Recovery engineer will also partner with the Project Management team and IT Leadership to help improve our customers’ experience including automating workflows and metrics. The candidate must be knowledgeable and operate effectively in the following areas:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinating the development, training, and exercise of a customer’s recovery plan

Must be able to communicate effectively

Fulfill corporate compliance tasks including mandatory training and weekly timesheets

Participate to support shift on Backup and DRaaS infrastructure

Enforce existing Global standards for Backup infrastructure

Perform daily monitoring and management of all backup related activities, including executing restore jobs, troubleshooting failed jobs, and initiating corrective action

Perform diagnosis, troubleshoot, and conduct root-cause analysis for any issues escalated on the storage and backup platforms

Participate in the building, installation, configuration and testing of servers, storage, and backup infrastructure for new use, upgrades or lifecycle replacement

Create and communicate reports for backup and storage environments

Cabling requirements within a data center (Copper vs Fiber (including polarity)



REQUIREMENTS

Intermediate English proficiency

Between 2-4 years of experience as a backup recovery Engineer.

VMware 6.7 / 7.x / 8.x installation, configuration, and administration

Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019

Experience in Veeam Backup version 11 &/or 12 with specific knowledge around VBR, repositories, proxies & replication

Knowledge in replication technologies such as Zerto, Dell/EMC SRDF, IBM Global Copy, etc

Commvault experience a Plus

Ensure DRaaS Runbooks, Backup documentation and related documentation is up to date

Processes, and able to respond to phone calls from remote sites including home

Understand basic Disaster Recovery concepts

RTO vs RPO

Sync vs Async replication

Backup vs Replication

ATOT vs ATOD

Understanding of ITIL concepts and techniques including ticketing & change controls

Active Directory Domain Services and Group Policy installation, configuration, and administration

Red Hat Linux installation, configuration, and administration

Experience in Virtual Tape Library management is considered an advantage

Knowledge of Disaster Recovery policies and procedures

Experience in scripting (bash, perl)

Knowledge of SAN technology basics

Networking TCP/IP, layer 2 and layer 3 knowledge

Automation including Ansible, Python, Powershell, etc
