COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST

World Vision is seeking a Communication Specialist for a “Juvenile Justice System Strengthening Project, USAID funded.
The Communication Specialist will manage its internal and external communications. He/She will promote a positive image of the Project and the dissemination of information to achieve the project's objective. This is a full time position based in El Salvador.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
? Draft and lead implementation of a communication strategy to achieve the project´s priorities and objectives.
? Take a lead role in the drafting and supervision of communications campaigns developed under the project.
? Ensure all projects activities and materials comply with the Branding Strategy and Marking Plan approved by USAID.
? Lead creation and management of internal and external communications (memos, newsletters, key success stories and others.)
? Draft regular project updates, highlights, summaries and others similar products to share with various audiences, including USAID.
? Assist Project leadership in preventing and managing media issues that deal with sensitive or controversial topics.
? Liaise with media and handle request for interviews, statements, etc.
? Lead and manage the planning of various events (workshops, roundtable discussions, working sessions) with different actors, and ensure smooth implementation.
? Take a leading role in coordinating periodic process progress reports, including establishing a schedule, gathering inputs for project´s staff, and take lead role in drafting such reports.
? Translate documents related to the project from and to English/Spanish as required.
? Other duties assigned by Chief of Party.

QUALIFICATIONS

? A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Sciences or similar fields.
? At least 5 years of experience of relevant position experience as a Communication Specialist or similar role; preference given to direct writing experience.
? Attention to detail and ability to think critically to sort relevant information.
? Demonstrated exceptional communication skills (writing and verbal) in Spanish and English (samples may be requested)
? Advanced English is required.
? Prior experience with international organizations, USAID preferred.
? Prior experience with civil society organizations or government is preferred.
? Strong interpersonal skills and positive work ethic.
? Ability to work well in a team environment.
? Ability and experience to manage social medias in a professional context.
? Experience in video production preferred.
