GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior SOC & Patching Engineer to join our growing security and operations team. This role is ideal for an individual with 1-2 years of experience in IT security, systems administration, or patching management who is eager to grow their expertise in a dynamic environment. The candidate will perform OS level patching to resolve vulnerabilities, along with troubleshooting, and solving security problems on a 24x7 basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor and perform patching on internal and customer environments, following detailed instructions and processes as needed.
• Respond to customer requests and coordinate with colleagues on tasks
• Monitor and respond to AV and SIEM alerts as needed.
• Applying OS level patches for internal and customer environments using IBM BigFix.
• Create and maintain vulnerability and patch reports internally and for customers
• Collaborate with client technical teams for issue resolution and mitigation. Help remediate security issues by interfacing with internal/external customer teams and other tool vendors.
• Perform log analysis, and communicate clearly regarding the results of log analysis, use of IDS, IPS, and/or other signature technology.
• Manage and maintain the log management and threat analysis solution.
• Plan, schedule, and execute patching deployments for servers, workstations, and network devices.
• Monitor patch deployment status and troubleshoot failed installations.
• Ensure compliance with patching policies and security baselines.
• Document patching procedures and configuration changes.
REQUIREMENTS
• Associate degrees or studies in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience and certifications.
• 1-2 years of professional experience in IT support, systems administration, network administration, or a security-focused role.
• Patch management tools such as Bigfix, Kaseya, Intune as well as general OS troubleshooting
• Experience with Antivirus products, SIEM tools and alert investigations.
• Basic understanding of patch management principles and tools (e.g., WSUS, SCCM, Intune, or similar).
• Exposure to security monitoring tools (e.g., SIEM/log management platforms).
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are mandatory for effective collaboration with US-based clients and teams.
• Knowledge of one or more of the following areas: Windows, Unix, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection, Threat Detection Analysis, or Information Risk Management
• Technical ability in being able to read data from specifications that will help with the identification of potentially affected technical teams. Engage with vendor technical support as needed.
