As a Programmer Analyst with TELUS Health and Finance you will be working on an industry leading, OLTP, claims processing solution. To be successful in this role you will need to be detail oriented, communicate well and adapt to new tools and technology. You will be working with a team of experienced programmers and have opportunity work in various areas of the solution ranging from backend Database and Java programming, web-service integration and Java J2EE/Javascript front end development.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze requirements, write designs and provide solutions that meet business objectives
• Write quality code and thoroughly unit test all changes to the system
• Build and deploy new releases to multiple environments.
• Evaluate existing complex systems and identify areas of improvement; this includes improved code re-use, efficiency and SQL tuning.
• Follow a structured SDLC methodology, including effective communication with remote team members, BAs, PMs and QA staff
• Follow coding standards
• Conduct/participate in code review sessions

Qualifications (Education, skills, knowledge Experience):

• Bachelor degree in a computer science related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in a technical development role involving the delivery of software; and experience in IT/EC
• Background in Health Care or Health Insurance industry is an asset.

Technical Skills:

• Strong programmer; primary language is Java Struts and also PL/SQL
• Excellent knowledge in RDBMS concepts, Database Design, writing PL/SQL, complex stored procedures and packages, DDL, DML queries on Oracle 10g.
• Proficient in Java EE, Struts, JDBC.
• IDE/Tools: Eclipse, Maven, ANT, ClearCase, HP Quality Center, GIT
• Experience with webMethods and Apache FOP are an asset.
